Congratulations to DJ Horton, Kaytlin Hobbs, and Hailey Austin who were chosen as delegates to represent FHS at the 2017 American Legion Auxiliary Girls State. Recent FHS graduate Allie Ruhlander was asked to return as a counselor. Over 560 students gathered at Lipscomb University for this annual event. High school girls, who have completed their Junior year spend an intensive week of study, working together as self-governing citizens. Delegates learn how to participate in the functioning of their state’s government in preparation for their future roles as responsible adult citizens. DJ was elected City Power Board Member, Kaytlin was elected to the Board of Education, and Hailey was Election Commissioner. They were exposed to top speakers, attended a SCALES trial hearing, and met with TBI director Mark Gywn.
