Next Guide Freshmen

Designed for freshmen across the state of Tennessee, the Next Guide is a resource to help students prepare for what’s “next” after high school graduation. Whether a student plans to enroll in a technical school, community college or university, join the military, or enter the workforce, the Next Guide contains resources that can help make those postsecondary goals a reality.

The Next Guide is divided into 4 sections:

• Dream
  This section helps you determine your dream career by exploring career interest areas and completing a career evaluation.

• Explore
  This section provides tips for ninth graders to survive and thrive during their freshman year, as well as activities to help students explore the many options available, including universities, community colleges, technical colleges or military service.

• Plan
  In this section, students will find a checklist to help track graduation requirements and how to get a head start through early post-secondary opportunities (EPSOs) and dual enrollment. The section also includes information on financial aid. 

• Assess
  This section provides students with tips on time management, professional email etiquette, a list of ninth grade milestones and glossary of important terms.
